Course Description

Connection and community are powerful predictors of long‑term recovery outcomes. This training examines current research on the biological, psychological, and social impacts of connection in supporting individuals with substance use disorders (SUD).

 

Participants will explore how both professional and natural support systems influence engagement, resilience, and sustained recovery. The training emphasizes intentional relationship-building and community-focused approaches that can enhance treatment effectiveness and client well‑being.

 

Earn Board‑Approved Continuing Education Credits

This training offers CE hours approved through the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board (NCASPPB).

 

What You’ll Learn

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the importance of community and connection in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and long-term recovery.
  2. Describe the roles and benefits of both professional and non-professional support networks in fostering recovery.
  3. Discuss and apply strategies that build and strengthen community engagement within SUD treatment and recovery.
